Meet the latest couple in The Chupi Wedding Series: Violetta and Alexander. Here, they tell us the story of a proposal via love-notes and their romantic, rustic ceremony in the idyllic valleys of Tuscany.

We met five years ago at work – Alexander is a pilot, and I used to fly as a cabin crew. For me, it was love from our first date. When we met for Alexander's birthday at a café. He was very charming, kind, and loving. Also, we shared the same passion for books, art, and photography.

Our engagement was quiet but romantic. We like making small gifts for each other. At some stage I started getting small written messages from Alexander – quotes from books or poems about love. I kept them all in a jar. After a whole month of those messages there was one big one, with an engagement ring and a question. I opened the last one just after my online class (I was studying interior design at Griffith College back then).

He went down on one knee and asked me the question. I said yes! The engagement ring is a part of his Danish family’s heritage. His grandma used to wear the ring as well. It’s a very special white gold ring with a blush-coloured sapphire. I love it so much. I wear it all the time, even when I paint.

We always loved quiet countryside places. We knew that our wedding was going to be somewhere in nature. We also decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives in Italy and that our rustic, romantic wedding was going to be exactly there in the Tuscany/Umbria area. We found a venue, Casa Bruciata, with our wedding planner. Everything about this place was just perfect for us. The quiet.

The most beautiful restored farmhouse with breathtaking views of the olives trees and valleys. The organic food and wine experience; the charming apartments; the friendly welcome, created with love by the owners.

The most precious moments were when we were saying ‘yes’ to each other at the church and the evening dinner, with all our closest people, family and friends all around us. They also shared some speeches for us… It was very touching.

I designed my own dress, wore my favourite shoes that matched perfectly with our wedding colours, and made my own small crown from dry flowers. For the rest of my wedding jewellery, I wore vintage bracelets with pearls, and earrings.

When it came to choosing our wedding rings, I knew exactly which one I wanted. I was always a fan of Chupi: what I like most is the elegant and delicate design of their pieces. I wanted to have a special piece of the place where we met and fell in love – Ireland. Each time when I look at my wedding ring I see all our memories from that green place, all the nature. My wedding ring has this “wooden crown” look, like a round gold branch. We even had it engraved with our names.

I adore nature and flowers. That’s why this ring is special to me, it’s all that I love in my life.

For those planning their own wedding my advice would be that no matter how much you are stressed or worried about the organisation, on that special day you will focus only on each other. You will realise that on your wedding day, your eyes are mostly focused on your half. The one that matters the most.
