Meet the latest couple in The Chupi Wedding Series: Emma & Nicky. Emma tells us about their beautiful intimate wedding day with their close family and friends in Boyne Hill House.

We met on Tinder. It was both our very first and last Tinder date! We met on April 15, 2018, our first date consisted of an 8km, very wet hike up the Wicklow mountains. Thank god we hit it off quickly, or else that would have been a very long hike.

Exactly one year later, on April 15, 2019, we decided to celebrate our anniversary by hiking the same mountain. Little did I know what was ahead of me. To celebrate our anniversary, we decided to go away for a 2-night getaway. We started our staycation with a night away in Monart on April 14; on the morning of April 15, we drove to the same mountain and set off on the same hike we did exactly one year previous.

It was pouring rain and freezing cold, just like the year before. We eventually made it to the top. Battling the wind and the rain, Nicky proposed at the top of the mountain, I couldn’t believe it. It was the most perfect way to celebrate our one-year anniversary. I skipped down the mountain and we headed on to our next destination; The Westbury. We spent the day calling friends and family to tell them our news.

We got married on April 15, 2021, in Boyne Hill House in Navan, Co. Meath. It was the first venue we visited, and we booked it straight away. We loved the idea of an exclusive house wedding venue, and not the traditional hotel wedding venue. The idea of having the entire house to ourselves sold it to us. The house has so much character and the staff were amazing.

I’m sure you can tell that April 15 is a special date for us, so we decided to also get married on that date, on our 3-year anniversary. I know every bride says this, but it was honestly the most perfect, relaxed day. We arrived at the venue at 9.30am and the ceremony was at 3pm. This gave us plenty of time to get ready, with no panic. It was such a relaxed atmosphere and there was no stress on the day.

Given the restrictions, we invited our closest family and friends, which we believe made the day even more special. We plan to celebrate with the rest of our family and friends at a later date in the year, in the same venue.

The intimacy of the wedding was the most memorable part of our day. We were obviously forced to have a smaller wedding than we originally planned, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. It was amazing to be surrounded by your closest friends and family all day. The dinner setting was particularly special, we all sat around an oval table, and enjoyed the meal, drinks and speeches, altogether.

I bought my wedding dress from Truly Bridal Boutique in Naas. I had to cancel three wedding dress appointments due to restrictions, so this shop was the first shop I was able to visit. It is a Pronovias dress called Eureka. My mum also wore a Pronovias dress on her wedding day! It is a flare/mermaid dress in all-over structured crepe features a deep plunge V-neck and an open back. The open back leads to carefully placed buttons that finishes at the train’s edge.

I had an idea what type of dress I wanted; just very simple. This was the first dress I tried on, in the first shop (I’m sure you can see a trend here!) I wanted to add something to the dress to make it stand out, so I bought pearl cape separately from a Bán Bridal Limerick. It worked so well with the dress.

I wanted my family to remember the wedding to be relaxed, intimate and full of joy. Nicky and I put in a lot of work in leading up to the wedding, so we were quite organised. On the day of the wedding, we didn’t have anything to worry about, and we could enjoy every moment and I think all the guests will look back and remember that.

You can see from the pictures how happy and relaxed everyone looks. It’s been a very tough year for everyone, and I had not seen many of the guests for months due to restrictions, so it made it even more special to be able to spend the day with our closest friends and family to celebrate.

I have been wearing Chupi pieces for many years and I always knew I wanted a Chupi engagement ring and wedding band. The pieces are so unique. I don’t wear white diamonds, so the grey diamonds are perfect for me. My rings are the Love is All Grey Diamond for my engagement ring and the Crown of Love for my wedding ring.

We choose our wedding bands online and the Chupi team were super helpful throughout the entire process of buying virtually. Last year, when we were allowed visit the store, I spent the afternoon trying on rings, with my friend JoAnn (who also works for Chupi); she helped me choose a wedding ring that would be suitable with my engagement ring.

I knew I wanted grey diamonds, and I knew I wanted a twig band, and the Crown of Love fits perfect. I hope to add the Hawthorn ring to my stack for our one-year anniversary next year!

My necklace is the Teardrop Pearl Necklace. I wore a pearl cape, and I wanted to treat myself to a new Chupi piece for our wedding, so I chose this necklace to go with the cape (my something ‘new”). They looked gorgeous together, especially with the neckline of my dress. I also wore the Initial Letter Disc Necklace, I’ve had this necklace for a number of years with the initials “N” and “E”.

Nicky's ring is the Driftwood men’s wedding ring. We love how unique this wedding band. My Bridesmaids wore the Teardrop Pearl Necklace too, these were gifts to my wonderful bridesmaids and to match my necklace. I wanted to give them a gift to remind them of our wedding day, and how thankful I was to have them part our wedding.
